Czech.Rep. analogue TV switch-off #meteorwatch

It would appear that the 150 kW analogue TV transmitter at Prague, Czech Republic,  has closed down for good.

The Nova TV transmitter was on channel R1, 49.7396 MHz, until 23h UT last night (Oct 31st). Since then the frequency has been quiet, apart from a few  pings from a transmitter 20Hz away that is in neighbouring Hungary . It also appears that the channels’  second frequency of 59.257 MHz, channel R2 (transmitted from  Ceske Budejovice/Klet) has also been switched off.

The Czech Republics’ DVB plans call for all analogue TV transmitters to be switched off by November 11th 2011, or else the channels concerned might face considerable fines. It would appear that the switch-off plan is well on track.

Another sad day for radio meteor monitoring!
