That favourite Spanish meteor scatter transmitter on 48.250 MHz has been AWOL for 24 hours. It drifted high in frequency last night (20/10) and has not yet returned to its nominal location. I’ve spotted it about 350 Hz high slowly drifting higher in frequency.
It’s been drifting away on and off for years, but it seems to be getting worse! This bad behaviour has upset meteor for myself and many other observers across Europe… but I doubt if it’ll be fixed anytime soon – the transmitter was originally sheduled for closedown in 2007!
